More Details about Nova Scotia’s Provincial Programs
The province of Nova Scotia has created the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream immigration program. Its purpose is to select foreign workers who fit the criteria of this region’s market conditions and who want to be employed full-time and on a continuous basis. The selection of Nova Scotia as a permanent place of residence is also an important consideration.
Individuals who submit an immigration application under this program are required to have a job offer from an employer at the time of submission; have the educational qualifications and work experience required in a specialization in demand in Nova Scotia; seek to establish and carry out the objectives of making their own living in the region, given that they will have professional responsibilities in their specialization after immigrating to Canada.

Nova Scotia’s Qualification Requirements
In order to be eligible to apply for immigration to Nova Scotia, a foreign worker must meet all of the criteria for the federal Express Entry program. The applicant must also meet these qualification requirements:
- The acceptable age is between 21 and 55 years old;
- You must have a command of English at least at Level 7 (you can find out the corresponding score in IELTS and CELPIP at the link). You must prove your score on each of the 4 sections of the IELTS or CELPIP;
- Be a Canadian citizen or have proof of residency in Canada on a continuing basis
- Proof that you have the required number of finances in your account (this could be real estate, etc.). The total count includes the number of family members (see link for all necessary details)
- You must have a diploma corresponding to the country’s higher education document. It is necessary that a third party evaluate (this is an evaluation or comparative characteristic) the diploma of the applicant immigrant. This could be the World Education Service (WES) or the International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS), for example;
- You must have a valid job offer or at least 12 months of continuous full-time, formal work experience in an in-demand occupation within the previous 5 years;
- You must have a plan for your future employment and living arrangements with the necessary documentation – Employment and Settlement Plan. This document will allow the Immigration Officer to evaluate the foreign worker’s potential contributions to the economic, employment and social aspects of the Nova Scotia community and to learn about their plans for employment and settlement. Also, if you have this plan, you have a better chance of success because you will have already demonstrated your ability to think about future employment options and will have demonstrated your ability to make arrangements for your residence and family relocation before you arrive in the province;
- If necessary, the foreign worker may be invited to an interview with an immigration officer in Nova Scotia and will be notified by regional authorities.
