Skilled Worker
This system is designed for applicants who have a guaranteed invitation to employment from an employer in the region. Foreign workers who perform their professional duties in the province with a work permit may also be selected under this system.
Under this program, an immigrant is required:
- have a full-time job or a job offer from a provincial employer for at least 24 months, with an option to extend the offer period;
- have experience, qualifications, knowledge and/or credentials that you need to carry out your job duties;
- have a work permit that is due to expire at least 4 months from the date of application, or you must be able to apply for a work permit;
- you must provide evidence of your intentions and ability to make an impact in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- you must have the necessary finances, which are sufficient to cover all of the necessary expenses for you to settle and for other family members to move into the region;
- your English or French language proficiency must be sufficient to carry out the tasks of your own profession. NB: There is no foreign language proficiency criterion for the specializations of the corresponding C or D levels according to the National Occupational Classification of the country.
