Labor Impact Category

This program is designed for immigrants who have the knowledge and experience needed in the regional labor market. All applicants under this system must have a Job Offer from a Prince Edward Island employer. There are four pathways under this system

International Graduates Stream

This category is aimed at graduates of certified provincial institutions who have received training in in-demand occupations corresponding to Level 0, A or B of the National Occupational Classification and who have a job offer in that occupational field.

Requirements for Participants under this System:

  • A full-time job offer from a provincial employer, either permanent or for a minimum of 24 months in an occupation at the appropriate Level 0, A or B of the National Occupational Classification;
  • You must have at least six months of work experience in Prince Edward Island in the type of occupation in which you were trained in the province;
  • You must have an active post-graduation work permit and legal residency status;
  • Note that you may be asked to attend a conversation with immigration officers in that region, if necessary, and you should be ready for this;
  • You must have completed at least 2 years of a training program at a certified institution of higher education in the province;
  • You must be between 21 – 59 years of age;
  • Your language competence in English and/or French must be at a level that will be sufficient to successfully carry out your professional responsibilities;
  • You must have sufficient funds to cover all basic immigration expenses and arrange for the relocation of your family members to the province of Prince Edward Island;
  • You will need to prove your commitment to living in the province.

Critical Workers

This program was created for those workers already working in the province of Prince Edward Island in semi-skilled or unskilled occupations.

Requirements for immigrants under this system:

  • You must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer, either permanent or for a minimum of 24 months, in the appropriate Level C or D of the National Occupational Classification. Currently, the following professions are eligible for this program: Truck drivers, customer service representatives, miscellaneous workers (handymen), food and beverage server representatives (waiters, among others), housekeeping workers;
  • You must have at least six months of full-time work experience in the province;
  • You need to have a valid work permit and legal status in the country;
  • Note that you may be asked to attend a conversation with immigration officers in that region, if necessary, and you should be ready for this;
  • Your level of education must meet at least the secondary school level;
  • You must be between 21 – 59 years of age;
  • You must have at least 24 months of full-time work experience or have been able to complete the previous 5 years of relevant education;
  • Your language skills must meet at least Level 4 of the Canadian Language Benchmark. You also have to have passed a Canadian-accredited language proficiency test (IELTS, CELPIP in English, TEF, TEF Canada, TCF in French) in the last 2 years;
  • You must have sufficient funds to cover all basic immigration expenses and arrange for your family members to move to the province of Prince Edward Island;
  • You need to prove that you are willing to live in the province.

Skilled Workers in PEI

This immigration stream is aimed at those who have a job offer in the province of Prince Edward Island in their respective National Occupational Classification Level 0, A or B occupations.

Qualification Requirements for Immigrants under this Category:

  • You must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer, either permanent or for a minimum of 24 months, in the appropriate Level C or D of the National Occupational Classification;
  • You need to have a valid work permit;
  • You need to have legal residence status in your own country;
  • Note that you may be asked to attend a conversation with immigration officers in that region, if necessary, and you should be ready for this;
  • You must have completed at least 2 years of a training program at a certified institution of higher education in the province;
  • You must be between 21 – 59 years of age;
  • You must have at least 24 months of full-time work experience in the past 5 years;
  • Your English and/or French language proficiency should be at a level that will be sufficient for you to successfully perform your professional duties;
  • You must have sufficient funds to cover all basic immigration expenses and to make arrangements for your family to move to Prince Edward Island;
  • You need to prove that you are willing to live in the province.

Skilled Workers outside of Canada

This program was created for individuals who have a job offer in this region at the appropriate National Occupational Classification (NOC) level 0, A, or B.

Qualification Requirements for Immigrants under this Category:

  • You must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer, either permanent or for a minimum of 24 months, in the appropriate Level 0, А or В of the National Occupational Classification.

Important: Within the Skilled Workers outside of Canada PNP, the employer providing the job must contact the provincial immigration office to confirm your job offer before submitting the Expression of Interest.

  • You need to have legal residence status in your own state;
  • Note that you may be asked to attend a conversation with immigration officers in that region, if necessary, and you should be ready for this;
  • You must have completed at least 2 years of a training program at a certified institution of higher education in the province;
  • You must be between 21 – 59 years of age;
  • You must have at least 24 months of full-time work experience in the past 5 years;
  • Your English and/or French language proficiency should be at a level that will be sufficient for you to successfully perform your professional duties.

Proof of Your Language Skills Can Be One of These Documents:

This can be a certificate that you have taken a Canadian-accredited language exam. You must have taken it within the last 2 years (tests such as: IELTS , CELPIP in English, TEF, TEF Canada, TCF in French). The acceptable level is at least 4 on the Canadian Language Benchmark CLB/NLCC.

  • You must have a PEI Form PNP-L06 signed by the employer (Employer Language Declaration);
  • You must also have documentation from a recognized institution of higher education that proves the language in which you received your education was English or French;
  • You must have the necessary funds to cover all basic immigration expenses and arrange for your family members to move to the province of Prince Edward Island;
  • You must prove your desire to live in the province.
