PhD Graduate Stream / Immigration selection system
Qualification Requirements
In order for you to be eligible to apply for the PhD Graduate Stream immigration system, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: You must meet all the requirements for a PhD degree from a certified provincial institution of higher education and have at least 2 years of postgraduate study that you have completed while legally residing and gaining knowledge in this region;
- Residing in the province: You must prove that you have lived in the province for at least 12 months in the past 2 years prior to submitting your immigration application;
- Settlement finances: You must have adequate funds and/or income to cover all settlement and relocation expenses for your family members;
- Intent: You must be willing to live in the province;
- Time limit for accepting immigration applications: You must submit this application within 2 years of completing all the requirements for your Ph.D. degree. For the OINP program, this is the date you receive your degree. If you do not have a credential, the program considers the date on which the official letter from the institution where you are studying was received. Otherwise, it should be the date you receive your diploma;
- Legal resident status (if applicable): For permanent resident status in this country, you must be required to prove you are legally residing in Canada. This means that you must have a work permit, study permit, or temporary residency status if you reside in the country.
