Express Entry Program For Selecting Ontario Immigration Applicants For Skilled Tradesmen
Qualification Requirements
To apply for immigration under this region’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream system, you must meet both federal and provincial requirements. Immigrants are evaluated on both of these factors when receiving a nomination.
To apply for the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream in Ontario, you must:
- have an active Express Entry profile;
- meet the work experience requirements of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) system;
- indicate on your Express Entry profile that you are interested in moving to or from a province, or just tick “All Provinces and Territories”;
- receive a Notification of Interest from this province on your IRCC online account (EE profile).
Qualification Requirements of the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream
In order for you to be able to apply, you must meet these requirements set by the province:
- Work experience: At least 1 year of experience you have gained in your full-time (or relevant part-time) occupation in that region in the 2 years from the date shown on the Notification of Interest from the province. It is important to remember that you must have had work experience in the occupation listed in occupational group 633 or in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), either General Group 72, 73 or 82;
- Professional certification (if applicable): You need to have the appropriate certificate or license issued by a provincial vocational college, provided that this or a previous occupation in your profession in the region requires that this type of professional certification be in place;
- Current residency in the province: You must reside in the region on an active work permit at the time of application;
- Language skills: Your language proficiency in English or French on the Canadian Language Benchmarks Scale (CLB) must be at least Level 5;
- Settlement Finances: You must have the necessary funds and/or income in the province, which is sufficient to cover all necessary expenses for your settlement and the relocation of other family members;
- Intent: You must aspire to live in this province.
