Federal Skilled Worker Program
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
Qualified Experience with the Following Requirements:
- At least one year of continuous full-time work or matching that year of part-time work (total of 1,560 hours per year/30 hours per week);
- Paid job (excluding unpaid internships or volunteer work);
- Single position;
- Work experience of the past 10 years;
- Work in an occupation related to Level 0, A or B on the National Occupational Classification (NOC) of Canada (Skill type 0, skill levels A or B – NOC 2011).
Full Time – 30 hours of work per week for 12 months. A total of 1,560 hours of work.
Part Time – 15 hours of work per week for 24 months. A total of 1 year full-time (1,560 hours) OR 30 hours per week for 12 months in multiple positions = 1,560 hours (1 year full-time).
You must demonstrate that the tasks you perform in your position fit the description of the chosen occupation listed on the NOC. If you do not show that your experience matches the description of your chosen occupation on the National Occupational Classification, your immigration application will not be accepted. Language Proficiency
Your language proficiency must meet Level 7 of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). After the CLB, you are required to submit a Ministry of Immigration-recognized language proficiency test in all reading, listening, speaking and writing categories.
You must submit the results of the English or French language test at the time you complete the Express Entry profile. Language certificates must be obtained no earlier than 2 years before you submit your immigration application.
Education
You must have:
- A document of completed secondary, higher or technical education in Canada OR
- A document of completed education from an institution recognized outside the country;
- An evaluation of your credential from a relevant Canadian organization. The document must show that the education you received was Canadian.

If you have met the minimum requirements listed above, your immigration application will be proceeded. It will be based on the six main aspects of selection, for each of which you can receive the corresponding number of points:
- Language proficiency;
- Age;
- Education;
- Proven work experience;
- Job offer;
- Ability to accommodate.

Proof of financial solvency
If you are not working in Canada and do not have a job offer from a Canadian employer, you must prove that you have enough money to support yourself and your family when you apply. Learn more HERE.
Principal Applicant
If you are legally or civilly married and live with your husband or wife in Canada, and he or she also meets the requirements listed above, you have the option of choosing which one of you will apply for immigration as your principal applicant.
A common-law husband or wife is a person (of any gender) with whom you have lived together for at least one year.
