Skills immigration
Skills Immigration was created for professionals and semi-skilled workers in those occupations that are in high demand in British Columbia.
Qualification Requirements
In order to participate in BC PNP’s Skills Immigration program, the foreign worker must:
- Meet the eligibility requirements of the system and receive the required number of points to become selected
- Register and submit your immigration application online
- Provide required documentation for BC PNP processing
- Provide necessary paper-based documentation to become a permanent resident of Canada
- Work experience is only required for a few aspects of the system
- Work experience that skilled workers obtained outside the country is also eligible for the program
- Immigrants applying under the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled categories are required to have work experience in the province of British Columbia
The Features of Skills Immigration:
- The program provides for the processing of paper applications for Permanent Residence (PRR) from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
- The processing time at the IRCC is different from the time it takes to obtain permanent residence through Express Entry (the immigration eligibility system)
- The program is designed for workers who have mastered an occupation listed in the National Occupational Classification of Canada (NOC) and corresponds to qualification Levels 0, A, B, C and D only
- The program does not provide previous work experience for certain occupational categories. But having it may be an advantage for you when your immigration application is considered
How do I apply and how does the Skilled Immigration program work?
You can do this through the Skilled Immigration Registration System (SIRS):
- It can be done via the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)
- Registration can only take place if you meet all the conditions for selection under the program
- It is free
- Remember that registering your foreign worker profile does not guarantee success in the selection process
- You may receive points for various aspects of the program selection requirements
- If you pass successfully, you are included in the database of immigration applicants in your chosen category
- The time that an immigrant applicant profile in the SIRS system is active is 12 months
Selection factors affecting SIRS scores
Key economic factors include:
- Occupational qualifications must meet the National Occupational Classification (NOC) and be listed on the vacancy in British Columbia
- Suggestion of annual salary level
- Location of the immigration candidate’s upcoming job
Factors you should also consider when you want to move to British Columbia:
- Availability of work experience in your chosen specialty
- Education level
- Linguistic competence level
Skilled Immigration Program Stages:
- Selection. You should receive an invitation to apply for the Skilled Worker, Entry Level and Semi-Skilled/International Graduate categories.
- The process for applying to be considered by the Province of British Columbia. You can do this online through BC PNP Online. The cost to apply for immigration is 700 Canadian dollars (CAD).
- Receiving a nomination from the province.
- Submitting the necessary documentation for permanent residency in the country.
