The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Qualification Requirements under the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NB PNP)
Only Expression of Interest (EOI) statements by immigrants who can prove it are accepted to participate in the NB PNP system:
- they have a connection with a province that meets one of the criteria below, or
- the foreign worker has personally attended information sessions organized by the NB PNP in the past 24 months (maximum 2 years prior to application), or
- you have IT qualifications (there are now categories that are closed before you can even apply for EOIs – Open Category EOIs);
- additional important information about EOIs (Open Category EOIs are closed at this time).
- Relation to the Province of New Brunswick
Past EOI (Expression of Interest) applications under the NB PNP system are submitted during the period when the acceptance of EOI applications becomes open. This is announced on the official provincial relocation website. This applies to those people who are able to prove at least 1 connection to that region from those listed below. This applies to those applicants that:
- are employed in New Brunswick;
- have a degree from an accredited higher education institution in that region;
- have relatives residing in the province as permanent residents or have been Canadian citizens for at least 1 year;
- have carried out their professional duties in the province for at least 12 months within the past 5 years;
- have a job offer for full-time continuous employment from an organization in the New Brunswick area;
- have at least first-level language competency in French. A TEF language test certificate is also required;
- applicants must also submit an immigration application according to one of the specializations listed below.
IMPORTANT: First and foremost, applications will be considered from immigrants who, in addition to their relation to the New Brunswick area, are able to prove that they have work experience in the sectors listed below (these types of occupations are constantly being modified and/or new specializations are constantly being added):
- Professions related to information technology. For example, analysts, programmers, technical support workers, sales workers;
- Business and financial analytics;
- Retail sales managers;
- Hospitality managers and chefs with professional backgrounds;
- Production managers;
- Industrial mechanics;
- Industrial electricians;
- Chief accountants and accounting assistants;
- Translators (who translate from English into French);
- Administrative assistants.
2. Attendance at information sessions on the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NB PNP) for the previous 2 years
The NB PNP program includes an EOI (Expression of Interest) application process during the time when the EOI application process becomes open. This is announced on the official provincial relocation resource for those people who have been to the system’s information sessions or who have attended meetings with NB PNP workers during local or international events in the past 2 years.
From time to time, the regional office holds these information sessions outside of Canada.
You can find a schedule of these meetings at this link
After foreign workers have attended information sessions, those who wish to do so may apply to go through the New Brunswick immigration system. Provided you are approved, you can move on to the next step of submitting the necessary documentation to relocate, but you must meet at least the basic criteria of the region and the basic federal conditions to do so. When you receive a provincial nomination, you will be required to create your profile in Express Entry and go through the rest of the federal relocation process.
You can learn more about the required points and eligibility criteria at the link.
New Brunswick’s Express Entry Labor Market Stream allows the province to select foreign workers from the federal Express Entry program and provide them with an invitation to apply to be nominated for that region.
Applicants from the Express Entry system with a New Brunswick nomination receive 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System, which is attached to their overall Express Entry score.
In addition to already having work experience in one of the specialties listed above, foreign workers are now required to meet one of these requirements as determined by the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NB PNP) eligibility system:
- You are currently employed in the province of New Brunswick or have a job offer from a firm in the province that meets one of the National Occupational Classification of Canada (NOC) Skill Type 0, A or B levels,
- You have immediate family members (a child, brother/sister, parent, grandparent, uncle or aunt) living in the province. They must be at least 18 years old. Their period of living in New Brunswick must be from 1 year of permanent residency or they must have Canadian citizenship status, or
- It is necessary to demonstrate that you have a first language proficiency in French. This proof is done through the Test d’évaluation de français (TEF)
To be considered for this program, you must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) on the NB PNP System.
The NB PNP will only consider Expression of Interest for this program from those applicants who meet the Federal Skilled Worker eligibility requirements and receive at least 67 points out of 100 on the FSWC (Federal Skilled Worker) qualifying scale. All applicants must also meet the eligibility requirements of the New Brunswick Labor Market Stream Express Entry program.
Currently, immigration applications to participate in relocation through the New Brunswick provincial system are only accepted in the following areas for foreign workers:
- Those immigrants who are currently employed in the region;
- Applicants who earned their education in New Brunswick;
- Foreign workers who have family members in the region;
- Applicants who have been previously employed in New Brunswick for at least 12 months in the past 5 years;
- Immigrants who have a certified invitation to work in this province;
- Applicants who have confirmed their superiority in French by an appropriate score on the TEF examination;
- Foreign workers who have attended a provincial information session and have been successfully interviewed by the Province of New Brunswick.
How do I register and attend an information session, job fair or information session for provincially-organized entrepreneurs?
- First, you need to register for the event online and wait for an email confirmation of your registration. Please note that this is by no means AN INVITATION TO THE EVENT, but only a confirmation of registration;
- You may only register for 1 event;
- Provided you have been selected to attend an event, you will be sent another email that will already include an invitation to the specific event. You will need to bring a printed copy of the invitation to be able to attend the event;
- Provided you do not have the opportunity to attend the event for which the invitation was sent, this offer to attend will become ineligible. This means that you do not have the ability to use this invitation to attend another event due to the fact that it is only available once. To receive the next attendance offer, you will need to re-register and wait for another email.
